Name Your Hood is an interactive campaign to unearth creative and functional neighbourhood names for South Africa’s iconic cities. Inviting city lovers to generate names for the neighbourhoods in which they live, work and play. Igniting community spirit and pride through a democratic process. Where New York has SoHo and TriBeCa, London has Mayfair and Chelsea, Cape Town simply has ‘Town’, a vague designation for the CBD or the City Bowl. Name Your Hood is changing that.

A young black photographer based in Cape Town. He has been taking photos professionally for about 2 years. This is the story of how he got there, inspiring younger people wanting to do what he does. His story is unique because he started taking photos with a camera phone which his mum bought him at 18. For years he was doing all kinds of weird jobs until somebody asked if they could pay him for 30 mins of work. He has not looked back since..
